I recently posted my evaluation of Thomas Jefferson's original "Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank," which Jefferson had been asked to submit to President Washington, in response to Alexander Hamilton's immediate post-Constitution proposal to establish a central bank: http://perfecteconomy.com/pg-evaluation-of-jeffersons-opinion-on-the-constitutionality-of-a-national-bank.htmlThis article argues that beyond Jefferson's well presented fact a national bank or central bank of the kind we presently suffer is unconstitutional, it is a violation of perhaps the most important principle of the Constitution as set forth in the Preamble.
